Tony Kenny’s Ireland Coming to Pottsville

Good Samaritan Auxiliary To Host Ireland’s Premier Entertainer

(January 22, 2007)—Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary is hosting Tony Kenny’s Ireland, a variety show featuring music, song, dance and stories direct from the Emerald Isle on Friday, March 30, 7:00 pm, at Robert Wachter Auditorium at Pottsville Area High School. Those attending will also be entered to win a 10-day trip for two to Ireland.

Tony Kenny's Ireland is comprised of a cast of twenty, featuring the finest talent Ireland has to offer. Special guests will include Entertainer Tony Kenny, Comedian George Casey, multi-talented Irish Colleen Victoria Kenny.

Authentic Irish dancing is an integral part of Tony Kenny's Ireland. The Dublin City Dancers, a renowned troupe of 10 of Ireland's finest traditional and contemporary Irish dancers, led and choreographed by principal dancer, Enda Dunne, and directed by Ireland's award winning choreographer, producer, and director, Joan Kenny.  The team is comprised of dancers, straight from Ireland's most prestigious dance shows, including "River Dance" and "Lord of the Dance".

“Good Samaritan Auxiliary is very excited to bring Tony Kenny and his show to Schuylkill County,” said Beth Travis, Auxiliary President.  “This is a great opportunity for our community members to see a world-class show at a reasonable price and help their local hospital.”

Tony Kenny tours the United States in the fall and spring.  Along with his cast of all-star entertainers, he entertains American audiences in their home cities, stopping at major concert halls along the way.

In the world of Irish music, Tony Kenny needs little introduction.  Tony Kenny has been the star of Ireland's "Jury's Irish Cabaret" for more then twenty years.  In addition to the cabaret, Tony has also maintained a most successful solo career with twelve recordings that have received acclaim in both Ireland and America.

Tony began his musical career as the star of the internationally acclaimed stage musicals, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.  Tony has received dozens of honors for his stage and television performances including Ireland's "Entertainer of the Year" in 1998, the Performing Artists Trust Society Annual Award for lifetime achievement in the performing arts, and an invitation to perform at the White House for President Bill Clinton on St. Patrick's Day in 1995.

Tickets cost $20 per person and can be purchased at the Seton Gift Shop at Good Samaritan, by calling 570-621-4242 or by clicking here.  Funds raised will help to purchase a cardiac monitoring system for the Emergency Department.
