Good Samaritan Foundation Offers Scholarships to Those Interested in Healthcare Careers

(February 1, 2008) – Good Samaritan Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce that it will once again offer three scholarship programs for individuals interested in furthering their education in a healthcare field.

Applications are now available for the Joan Purnell Memorial Scholarship, Joan C. Krammes Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Education and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship.  The purpose of these scholarships is to offer financial support of those who are interested in furthering their education in healthcare.  The scholarships are not based totally on financial need, but rather on merit, academic promise and community service.  In 2007, Good Samaritan Foundation distributed more than $13,500 as part of the scholarship programs.

The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, who attend Schuylkill County high schools, as well as Marian Catholic, Lourdes Regional and Panther Valley High School.  This scholarship is open to high school seniors who desire to continue their education in any type of healthcare-related field.  Applications for the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton scholarships are available from high school guidance offices or by visiting www.gsrmc.com.

Scholarship criteria and applications for all scholarships can be obtained from Good Samaritan’s website, www.gsrmc.com, or by contacting Good Samaritan Foundation at 570-621-4002.  Application deadline is April 1, 2008.
