The Laboratory of the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center offers a full range of routine and specialized diagnostic testing. Additionally, the laboratory offers a program that allows patients to donate their own blood for scheduled surgical procedures (autologous blood donation/collection). Blood transfusions are also provided on an outpatient basis.
The laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the American Association of Blood Banks, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Laboratories, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Food and Drug Administration. This means that the testing performed in our facility conforms to the highest standards governing the laboratory industry.
Approximately 370,000 test procedures are performed annually by the laboratory. The majority of testing (over 98%) is performed on-site in modern, state-of-the-art testing facilities. For highly specialized and low-volume procedures, arrangements exist with certified, licensed, approved reference laboratories.
