Treatment
The goals of our treatment program are to stabilize the crisis that led to the hospitalization and to return the patient to the maximum level of function possible within his or her circle of family, friends and community. Each patient receives a thorough physical and mental evaluation to determine the cause or causes of the psychiatric problem. Based on the results of the evaluation, an interdisciplinary treatment plan and crisis prevention plan are developed to establish each patient's individual treatment goals. The patient's length of time in the program is based on meeting the goals identified in the treatment plan.
Treatments may include:
- Individual meetings with a psychiatrist
- Medication management and education
- Group therapy about coping skills, handling anger, dealing with grief, etc.
- Educational programs
- Activity therapy
- Reminiscing
- Behaviorally focused groups for cognitively impaired patients
- Family meetings, if appropriate
