Sleep Disorders Center

570-621-4643

If you suffer from excessive daytime drowsiness, an inability to maintain sleep, loud snoring, breathing pauses, memory loss or depression, you may have sleep apnea. In addition to causing the symptoms listed, sleep apnea has been shown to be a leading cause of heart disease, hypertension, and stroke.

Other sleep disorders include periodic limb movement disorder (also known as restless leg syndrome) and narcolepsy. Periodic limb movement disorder affect's one's ability to fall asleep and to maintain sleep. Symptoms include an uncomfortable feeling in the limbs, particularly in the evening hours. Narcolepsy is characterized by an inability to stay awake during normal waking hours. People with narcolepsy may suddenly fall asleep while engaged in some activity, or in a car while sitting in traffic. In a small percentage of sufferers, attacks are brought on by changes in emotions. This disease may go undiagnosed for years.

Our caring and experienced staff specializes in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea and other sleep disorders in our comfortable, convenient, state of the art facility. The director of the center is Stanford S. Feinberg, MD; a neurologist and board-certified Sleep Medicine Specialist. The center has been in operation since 1995 and uses a variety of instrumentation to measure brain waves, respiration and heart function to diagnose sleep disorders.

A prescription from your physician is required to schedule sleep testing.
