Good Samaritan realizes the importance of loved ones for the recovery and well being of patients. For this reason, we encourage visitation among family members and friends. Because the patient's treatment and care is our primary focus, general visiting guidelines are in place to assist patients in their recovery.
- Visiting hours are 12:00 - 8:00 pm on the fifth, sixth and seventh floor nursing units. Visiting hours on the Critical Care Unit on the fourth floor are 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. Visiting hours for the Senior Behavioral Health Unit and Pediatrics (both on the fourth floor) should be discussed with the patient's caregivers. Families are encouraged to discuss their specific visiting needs with the nursing staff so that their needs, as well as the patient's needs, are met.
- Visitors are asked to limit their time with patients to allow for periods of rest and treatment.
- The number of visitors is to be limited at the bedside since space, noise level and privacy are always a concern, especially in semi-private rooms.
- We discourage children under 12 from visiting the patient units. If children are present in the medical center, they are to be under the direct supervision of an adult in order to ensure their safety in an environment filled with technical and potentially hazardous equipment.
- All visitors are asked to maintain behavior that is respectful of patients, visitors and staff by keeping noise levels down, refraining from the use of offensive language and gathering in waiting rooms or patient rooms without obstructing care to patients.
- So that care, treatments and rest periods for patients can be accomplished, visitors may be asked to leave the bedside or patient room to allow this care to take place.
- Visitors who show signs of acute respiratory infections or other communicable diseases are asked not to visit.
- Visitors who enter or leave a patient room, are asked to clean their hands with the waterless alcohol-based hand rub found mounted inside each patient room or in the corridors.
- If a patient's room has a "stop sign" on the door, visitors should follow the instructions on the sign before entering. If a visitor has any questions about the sign, he or she should visit the nurses' station before entering.
